COMMUNITY WORSHIP
Combined Pentecost Service: Sunday, May 28th, 2023, there will be a city-wide Presbyterian worship service at Amistad Presbyterian Church starting at 10:30 a.m. This service will feature the participation of First Presbyterian Church (the Korean Language Ministry and English Language Ministry), Trinity Presbyterian Church, United Faith Presbyterian Church, Amistad, and Grace Presbyterian Church. Please note that there will be no worship service at First Presbyterian on this day.

This unique service will feature prayers offered in four languages: English, Korean, Spanish, and Burmese. In addition, various music will be shared throughout the service expressing the talents of these various congregations. (If you would like to join the combined choir, please arrive at 10:00 a.m and Brent will have music for you.) Following the service, a food truck and traditional Colombian food will be prepared by Amistad, African drumming, a rugby demonstration from the Fort Wayne Rugby Team, a bounce house, and possibly some bagpipes. It will be an excellent service; don’t forget to bring a chair!

During this Combined Service, we will also be installing Rev. Carrie Winebrenner! This makes this already special service that much more important to the life of your church! So come on out to enjoy some time in fellowship with your neighbors, diverse cultures, great food, and an exceptional service in the life of your Associate Pastor, Rev. Carrie Winebrenner.

Installation Service for Rev. Carrie Winebrenner: In case you missed it in the previous announcement, on Sunday, May 28th, 2023, there will be a city-wide Presbyterian worship service at Amistad Presbyterian Church starting at 10:30 a.m where we will be installing Rev. Carrie Winebrenner as Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church Fort Wayne! Make sure you come out to this service to congratulate Rev. Carrie Winebrenner on her long overdue installation at First Presbyterian Church. This is a time to celebrate and thank her for her continued service and dedication to the congregation of First Presbyterian Church, the Day School, all their kiddos, and the staff here at First Pres.

CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES
Nursery Available for Infants thru Pre-School: Jesus loves the little children, and we do, too! Should you decide that today would be a good time to explore the nursery, your child is always invited to drop in. Ask the office volunteer for a key fob and directions, and our skilled child care employees will be excited to welcome your child while you worship.

Final Sunday School for the Summer! – During our 11 AM Worship: Calling all kids between kindergarten and 5th grade! Join us for Sunday School with Miss Rachel and Friends! We’ll all start in worship together, and then after the Time with Children, we’ll all head to our SS room as a group. We hope you’ll join us for fun, fellowship, learning, and….of course…Bible Bucks! Woohoooo!

2023 Pride Fest Volunteer Opportunity: In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells us the second most important commandment is to love our neighbors as ourselves. In an effort to share this love with our neighbors and siblings in the LGBTQIA+ community, the First Pres Ambassadors will once again be present at the 2023 Fort Wayne Pride Fest on July 22. If you would like to volunteer to attend and share the Good News that God loves all with no exceptions, we would love for you to sign up by emailing Carrie. If you’d like to attend, but you are worried about saying the wrong thing or not knowing what to say at all, please reach out to Carrie. She has many resources and reading materials to help us all learn to be better siblings and allies.

FELLOWSHIP: EDUCATION
Table Talk: We will delay starting our next book until Fall, tentatively on Sept 6, 2023.
Watch for updates in August! The group meets via Zoom on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. We take turns “reading around the table,” so no homework is assigned. We will be reading Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation by Kristen Kobes De Mez (2021).

If you have any questions, please contact Marj Sapp at 260-413-2639 or Marcie Weissner at 260-312-5733.

MISSIONS
St. Joseph’s Mission: The month of May is full of opportunities here at First Pres, so here is a chance for you to honor your mother at the same time you help the women at the St. Joseph’s Mission Home. Why not share one of your mom’s favorite recipes in preparing the evening meal for Monday, May 22nd? You can sign up for an entree, a side or a dessert in the small dining room this coming Sunday. The 18 women at the home and the missions
committee thank you.
