Announcements Dec. 24, 2022

Thank you for joining us today! We hope you’ll return for Worship on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at the 11:00am joint service in the McMillen Chapel hosted by the Korean Language Ministry. The service is available to attend remotely via live stream on the website at, or on YouTube.

The Music Program at First Pres is grateful to all of the volunteers who make the music at Christmas and all year round so special. There are three choirs including the Chancel Choir that rehearses on Thursday at 7:00pm, the Handbell Choir that rehearses on Thursdays at 5:30pm and the Children’s Choir that rehearses on Sunday mornings at 10:15am during certain months of the year. Anyone is welcome to join the choirs regardless of experience.

Each choir serves as a small group of the church and is a family within the church. If you are interested in joining any of the choirs, please email Brent Neuenschwander at We would love to have you!

In addition to the choirs, there are concerts presented through the First Pres Music Series. On average, the church presents six concerts per year and many world-class musicians have performed here. There are two concerts coming up in the spring of 2022 which are Dr.Timothy Olsen in an organ recital on March 19, 2023 at 4:00pm and the Chenault Organ Duo on April 23, 2023 at 4:00pm. Each year, concerts typically include an organ recital, a choral concert as well as small ensembles and can range from classical and sacred music to jazz and beyond. It is the hope of the church that each concert will help to Enrich Our Faith through the Arts.

Children and Families

Nursery Available for Infants thru 4-Years-Old: Jesus loves the little children, and we do, too! In fact, we adore the coos and squeals of kids of all ages during worship! But should you decide that today would be a good time to explore the nursery, your child is always invited to drop in. Ask any usher or the office volunteer for a key fob and directions, and our skilled childcare employees will be excited to welcome your child while you worship.

Sunday School For Kindergarten through 5th grade: We’re on holiday for now, but we would love for you to join us for Sunday School starting back on January 15th! On each Sunday we don’t share Communion, our Sunday school meets during worship, immediately after the time with children. Their teacher will lead them to the Sunday school room, on the second floor, in our west wing. After worship, we ask that you pick up your child, instead of them wandering around the building looking for you. Ask any usher or the office volunteer for directions.

Also, we are always looking for grown-up helpers for our Sunday School!  If you’d like to assist our teacher and work with our littles in a fun, creative, learning environment, please reach out to Pastor Carrie ( or Rachel Huffman.

Youth Group for 6th-12th Graders: Growing up is hard; finding a safe space to explore your faith shouldn’t be. Youth Group, for middle and high school kids, is designed to bring fun, fellowship, and faith formation to our youth. We typically meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, and our activities vary each time. We’ve done fun things like playing board games, going out to lunch, Cupcake Wars, and watching movies. And we’ve also done some more thought-provoking things like learning about white privilege, how we can become active participants in our community, and leadership and team-building skills.
