On Wednesday, May 11, at 7:00pm, the Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir will present a concert in the Sanctuary as a part of their “Hold Fast to Dreams” tour. The choir is under the direction of renowned conductor Tom Trenney and accompanied by Anne Wilson. The choir will be joined for part of the program by singers the Concordia Lutheran High School Choirs and the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir. This exceptional concert is free and open to the public.

The program is inspired by a resiliently hopeful poem by the great American poet Langston Hughes. The 40-voice Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir will sing colorful, eclectic repertoire by a variety of diverse composers, including Jonathan Dove, Stacey Gibbs, Dale Trumbore, Michel Legrand, Ysaye Barnwell, Juan García de Zéspedes, André Thomas and Max Janowksi. The choir will be performing Jake Runestad’s award-winning “A Silence Haunts Me,” which shares the dramatic and moving story of Beethoven as he struggled with loss of his hearing. A recent performance of this piece earned the Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir the honor of being named a finalist in the American Prize for Collegiate Choirs.

For those who have not had the opportunity to hear a choir under the direction of Tom Trenney, his choral understanding and musicality are phenomenal. You will not be disappointed!

The concert will be livestreamed via the church website.
