Presby-Day

A monthly gathering of Presbyterian adults and their friends for spiritual growth, education, fellowship, lunch and total life enrichment programs.  Most months 10:00am to 1:00pm in McKay Hall.  All Presbyterians over 50 and their friends are invited. Reservations by preceding Monday to 260-426-7421 ext 132

Day Trips and Shows

Day trips, tours and shows for fellowship, education and entertainment. Money is to be turned in 1 month before each trip; please make checks payable to FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH and notate Smock Senior Ministries on the memo line. 3B (Body, Brain and Belief):

A life-time fitness class geared toward flexibility, balance and strengthening of those muscles we use every day. 3B classes meet in McKay Hall. All senior adults over 50 years old are invited and welcome. Class limited to 30. Please call the church at 426-7421 to sign up. The free classes consist of both men and women (varied in age) and are full  of fun, fellowship, and fitness exercises. The focus is holistic, using tried and true physical therapy movements, healthy brain exercises, and encouraging spiritual, emotional, and social experiences in each class gathering. e fitness program of exercise and movement.  

Monday & Wednesdays, 1:30-2:30pm (with Walking Club from 1:00-1:25pm)  

Weekday Transportation:

Volunteer drivers provide transportation for medical appointments, limited shopping for older Presbyterians and to church worship services.

 

Cards of Encouragement, Concern and Support

 

H.E.L.P. (Health Equipment Lending Program):

Basic health care equipment is available for loan to Presbyterians, their families and friends when needed.

 

Medicare Prescription D:

Trained counselors help seniors choose the best plan.

 

Computer Training:

Hands-on training classes for learning computer programs.

 

Financial Resources and Planning:

Qualified people assist older adults and middle adults with financial planning, government regulations, long-term care and insurance matters.

 

Theater:

Entertaining and thought-provoking productions by First Presbyterian Theater.

 

Handyman Services:

Services provided to seniors who are in need.

 

History

Frank and Laura Smock, lifetime members of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, left Indiana Presbyterians The Smock Foundation. The Smock Foundation began in 1953 and is the sole provider of funds for The Smock Ministries Program. Smock Senior Ministries began in 1994 under the vision and leadership of two Presbyterian ministers, Rev. Richard Hutchinson and Rev. Dick Craig.  Rev. Craig served as the first Executive Director of Smock Senior Ministries, followed by Rev. William Haworth and Mary Lou Roth.  Rev. Ann Pitman is serving as interim director.  Smock Senior Ministries serves the entire State of Indiana Presbyterians with its leadership and resources.
