Church Structure Boards and Committees

First Presbyterian has many boards and committees that give members the opportunity to participate in the life of the church. From leadership roles to caregivers, from Bible studies to the arts ministries, members are encouraged to get involved. A list of boards and committees follows; contact the church office at 426-7421 to get in touch with a representative from a specific group if you are interested in joining.

The Session

The governing body of the church; members are elected by the congregation for a three-year term and may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.

The Board of Deacons

The caregivers of the congregation; they are elected by the congregation for a three-year term and may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.

The Day School Board

Supports the Day School Director in matters pertaining to the growth and running of the Day School. Includes a Session member liaison.

The Board of Directors of the Foundation

Receives, holds, and invests funds for the support of First Presbyterian Church. Professional, independent investment managers handle the investment of Foundation assets.

Ministry Committees

The Session may establish and appoint standing committees. The Session may also create special committees or task forces for such purposes and duration as determined by the Session. Ambassadors

Seeks to build relationships with the community through outreach, connecting with our downtown neighborhood and mission projects.

Building & Grounds

Oversees capital funding projects and everything related to the physical maintenance of the property.

Faith Formation

Seeks to provide meaningful Christian faith formation, education, and fellowship opportunities for church
members, friends, and the Fort Wayne community. The committee will create and sustain activities and events
that help people live out their faith in the world.

Finance

Oversees the financial policies and procedures of the Church, budget development and reporting; conducts the Stewardship Program each year and other fundraisers when requested.

Korean Language Ministry Steering

Administers and conducts a full range of worship, education and mission opportunities for Korean group members.

Personnel and Administration

Conducts annual reviews of salary for clergy and support staff, approve job descriptions and staffing changes, and assists with staff evaluations.

Fine Arts

Oversees and coordinates the Art, Music, and Theater programs of FPC and consists of a chairperson and the head of each of the arts groups.

Missions

​​The purpose of the Mission Committee is to follow the instructions of Jesus Christ to go into
the world, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and care for those in need.

Worship

Helps plan, oversee, and coordinate all worship services, choirs, music, ushers, acolytes, and Sanctuary guilds. They assure that the Chapel and Sanctuary are ready for services.

Nominating

The Church Officer Nominating Committee finds Nominees for the Board of Deacons and Elders on Session as people rotate off these boards each year.
