UPDATE: In-person worship services have been cancelled through April 26.
Dear Members and Friends of First Presbyterian Church,
The situation of COVID-19 is rapidly evolving. When I wrote my Friday enews letter, schools were still open and life was proceeding somewhat normally. Now, schools are closed, libraries are closed, churches and businesses are shuttering, and the government is recommending we practice social distancing. Because of this, the Session voted this morning to suspend in-person worship tomorrow, March 15, for all services. We will livestream the 11:00 English language service, and I encourage you to get online and worship together virtually. You can do that here and here. Rev. An is recording a worship service and will have that available for our Korean language members.
We have not yet made a decision at this time to cancel other activities, but we will let you know as soon as a decision is made. Please know that any decision we make is not made lightly, but for the health and well-being of all who find a place here at First Presbyterian. We also take seriously our responsibility to be part of slowing and mitigating the spread of the coronavirus.
In the meantime, my words from yesterday are still true: fear not. The Lord is our Savior and we can trust in God’s steadfast goodness and love.
