"The Joy of Oil and Clay"  Rebecca Justice-Schaab: Oil Paintings & Tom Sherbondy: Ceramics

Public Reception Friday, Sept 6, 5:30-7:00pm - Congregational Reception Sunday, Sept. 15, 12:15-1:30pm

Rebecca Justice-Schaab of Auburn, Indiana, has shaped and honed her painting and drawing skills over the past 45 years. In her oil paintings she uses backlighting, colorful shadows against a bright light, fanciful figures and loose abstract images to make an ordinary scene into something remarkable.  She says of a setting, “the things that usually go unnoticed become the inspiration for me to see what I can make of it.”

Tom Sherbondy of Fort Wayne has been creating art for 37 years working in stoneware clay, on the wheel and in hand-built sculpture.  He uses pit and raku firing techniques.
