"Awakenings" - Through November 4, 2018

Roanoke artist Ruth Koomler weaves and paints with acrylics. Her love, however, is encaustic art. She uses a combination of beeswax and damar resin, melted and applied with a brush or by any other creative means, alternating thebuilding up of layers with carving and scraping as she develops her image.

"Art is my happy place, and being the joyful soul that I am, you normally see bright, joyous colors in my paintings and weavings."
