First Presbyterian Church fosters the spiritual growth of our children and youth through several enriching programs, including Church School, youth groups, music and more!

Child Care

On Sunday from 8:45am to 12:15pm, child care for infants through 5-year-olds is provided in the Nursery on the first floor.  Please see an usher on Sunday for directions.

Sunday Children's Church School - 11:15am-Noon

Children (kindergarten through 5th grade) attend the start of the 11:00am worship in the sanctuary, then meet their teachers following the "moment with children."  We use a curriculum to teach the children about who God is, through studying Word and important stories throughout the Bible. Our hope is to help every child learn more about the Bible and its relevance for their lives.

Summer "A Day" Camps

The popular one-day summer programs return this year for children who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade.  The first is a "Science Camp" with a special presentation on whales, June 26, 9:00am-3:00pm, cost $5 per child.  On July 12 kids will build their own creations in "Build It/Make It Camp," 9:00am-3:00pm, cost $10/per child. The third session is August 9, a "Cooking Camp," 3:00-6:30pm, cost $5. Kids will cook for their families. All camps are held at thge church.  Email Pastor Bill Lane at to sign up.

Children's Missions

Bucket Brigade:  The third Sunday of every month children pass buckets through the congregation at the 11:00am worship service collecting money for church hunger relief missions.  One of the missions the bucket money supports is World Vision International.  The children adopted a 10-year-old Kenyan boy named Njoroge Peterson through World Vision six years ago. The children often write to Njorge and send him little surprise packages.  The children love to receive their special mail back from Africa!

BBQ and Movie Night

CYF is planning a family Barbeque and Movie Night for Saturday, July 14, at 5:30pm. Bring your own meats and veggies to barbeque and a side dish to share. We'll show a family movie in Fellowship Hall. Contact Pastor Bill Lane at 260-426-7421, Ext. 150, or email him at

Kayaking for Middle Schoolers

CYF invites kids going into grades 6-8 in the fall to go kayaking on Wednesday, July 18, at 4:30pm. The group will rent kayaks or canoes from Fort Wayne Outfitters and then paddle the three rivers that course through downtown Fort Wayne. It will be best if an adult can participate with a middle-schooler.
If you're interested, call or text Lucas Satter at 260-246-7394.  If you don't have an adult to go with you, Lucas can help you find someone.

Sunday Church Classes

Youth Sunday School class is held from 10:00 to 10:45am.  All Youth (Grades 6-12) meet upstairs in the Youth Lounge.  Youth are encouraged to attend either the 9:00 or 11:00am service.

Confirmation is a time for youth to learn more about the history and functioning of the Church.  They are guided to dig deeper into their own beliefs and their relationships with God. The next class will be announced in late fall.

(Together On Wednesday Nights) is a midweek program that meets on Wednesday nights from September through April from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. TOWN is a place where church is fun and everyone matters. It offers a weekly opportunity for youth and adults to get to know the church staff and believers from a wide variety of ages. TOWN teaches that belief in Jesus Christ extends beyond Sunday morning, that the Christian life can be filled with joy and fun, and that everyone in the church is part of a believer's family. Dinner is $5 a person, $20 maximum per family.
